Training Weekend

Weekend Training is conducted on a monthly basis and comprises the following:

Specialist Training Weekend (STW)
The Specialist Training Weekend allows trade training to be conducted at Junior Leader level and secondly for the monthly Major Training Weekend to be planned and associated administration conducted.



Major Training Weekend (MTW)
This is for all Squadron personnel. MTWs count towards the mandatory training commitment to qualify for Annual Tax Free Bounty (check FAQs on Pay). A Gunner must attend a minimum of 6 MTWs annually.
A typical annual training program will include the following:
Three - four Shooting weekends on the Ranges.



Two - three Tactical exercise weekends that involves staying out overnight on the Saturday.



Two Common Core Skills weekends that concentrates on the basic elements of Core skills. These are skills common to all trades Regular and Reserve. These weekends usually include the mandatory fitness tests, weapon handling and respirator test facility.



1 - 2 Navigation and adventure training weekends.

A Squadron inter Section Military Skills competition weekend.



Some weekends may be programmed to practice training relevant to the Annual Camp Programme.



Additional voluntary weekends may include attendance at Remembrance Parades, or providing assistance in varied forms to other Units, assisting on a Squadron display in the local area, etc.
